I’m Tânia Vargas, based in Portugal. My work has moved between analysis, communication, strategy and caregiving, often in parallel, among other things. I think best by writing.
I’ve spent much of my life trying to understand how systems work; first in theory, later in practice, and often from inside them. Writing is how I make sense of what I see, notice what doesn’t quite add up, and test ideas that feel unfinished.
My formation, both formal and informal, is interdisciplinary. I’ve worked across institutional, strategic, legal, and communicative frameworks, and I’m used to moving between how decisions are made, how structures are designed, and how ideas are translated, understood, and received in various domains.
In recent years, my thinking has been shaped just as much by lived constraints as by abstract ones. I’ve navigated policy, legal and healthcare systems, bureaucracy, communication, and caregiving up close, and that proximity has changed how I think about efficiency, governance, responsibility, and many other subjects that shape the world around us. I’m interested in questions across different contexts.
